EBT recipients in North Carolina can now use benefits for online Food Lion purchases through Instacart

RALEIGH, N.C. — Starting Thursday, Feb. 11, North Carolina Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) participants can buy groceries online using their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards through Instacart.com or the Instacart app, giving them access to an additional authorized online EBT retailer, Food Lion.

This flexibility will allow people to buy food while promoting social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and will help families with transportation and mobility barriers. Users will be able to access their benefits for online grocery delivery and pickup while shopping through Instacart on the Food Lion storefront.

One Good Thing: Pilot food program

It’s aim is to help people with chronic conditions that can be better managed with healthy food.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — One Good Thing — someone or something that makes West Michigan a good place to live. A new program is simply going to feed a lot more people.

Grace Health is teaming up with the South Michigan Food Bank. Together, the two will embark on a six-month pilot program that will prescribe home-delivered, healthy food boxes.
