Aldi releases 3 new fast-food copycat dipping sauces

Aldi fans, rejoice! There’s a new trio of copycat fast-food sauces in Aldi stores and they’re the perfect accompaniment to all kinds of Aldi products, from fan-favorite “red bag chicken” to any of the other breaded chicken tenders.

The Aldi-exclusive Burman’s dipping sauces are available in limited quantities in stores starting on June 30. They’re selling for under $2 per bottle, so it’s totally doable to stock up on all three flavors — Chick’n Dipp’n Sauce, Polynesian Sauce and Special Sauce — on your next Aldi run.

Proposal would broaden eligibility for Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids initiative | Government

The Denver City Council soon will consider a proposal to update the Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids initiative, expanding eligibility to provide access and funding for additional programs.

The council safety committee unanimously approved the proposal Wednesday, passing it forward to the full council for a final vote. The proposal will require a public hearing and supermajority approval from the council in the coming weeks.

“Ultimately, the reasons for these changes are to broaden eligibility requirements both for commission members and for organizations that can apply for funding,” said Paige Cheney, contract administrator for Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids.

A Bon Appetit recipe for ‘Bread Steak’ — a salty, savory French toast — has been met with skepticism on the internet.

On June 23, the food magazine tweeted a link to a recipe for David Tamarkin’s vegetarian Bread Steak, which the writer said ‘hits the spot when a slab of cauliflower just won’t cut it.’

NY minimum wage for fast food workers goes to $15 per hour statewide this week

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Starting Thursday, the minimum wage for fast food workers will be raised to $15 per hour throughout the State of New York.

While the fast food minimum wage is already $15 per hour in New York City, it has been $14.50 throughout the rest of the state since the end of December. The gradual increases were set by the Department of Labor under Governor Cuomo and began in 2015.
