Popeyes is trolling Taco Bell over its ‘Chicken Sandwich Taco’ item, suggests alternate idea

The folks at Popeyes are famous for frying chicken, but apparently they know how to deliver a good burn, too.

On Tuesday, Popeyes appeared to take a not-so-subtle jab at Taco Bell’s forthcoming “Chicken Sandwich Taco” — a new menu item announced by Taco Bell on Monday — by instructing their customers to make their own “tacos” out of the existing Popeyes Chicken Sandwich.

Look’s Who’s Latest Fast-Food Chain To Add Fried Chicken Sandwich To Menu

It seems the chicken sandwich fast-food wars are heating up again with McDonald’s jumping into the fray with a new line of sandwiches. 

McDonald’s announced on Wednesday, Feb. 24, it was releasing a new crispy chicken sandwich, which is joining its roster of longtime favorites like the Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, Egg McMuffin, and Filet-O-Fish.

Not unlike the famous Popeye’s sandwich, the new fried sandwich features a crispy fillet made with all-white meat chicken topped with crinkle-cut pickles and served on a  potato roll.

McDonald’s just released a new lineup of fried chicken sandwiches (read our review here), and to coincide with the release, it also dropped some fried chicken sandwich merch to go along with it.
